I would love to track down the rear window defrost setup though.

The XLT grill emblem, good one. Those are on the 77' and earlier models.

Didn't they also have them on the hood?
Unless it has been crushed recently, There is a defrost rear window in a blue s/c at a wrecking yard at the corner of I35 and FM917 just south of Fort Worth TX.

Has anyone seen the 70's cabs with the black vinyl covering over the back half of the cab, usually with the chrome drip rails. I've seen 2. Also there's the one ton camper special with it's longer wheel base. I've seen 2 of them also. I've seen 1 am/fm/cb and mine has a factory 8-track. Mine also has all the bottom and top trim, and mine is a 1978 f150 custom. My bronco is a 1979 ranger xlt with leather captain's chairs, upper map lights, etc...all the bells and whistles. How rare are the big sticker trims that run off the hood and down the sides?

Dont forget the factory roll bar--passed up a truck with a factory push bar and a roll bar several years ago. Yep kicking myself now. There is also a guy in Illinois that collects all the rare option stuff. I have his card somewhere, but thats what he does.

didn't ford make a rare 9 foot bed on 73-79 models? Or is that the one ton camper specials that havi is talking about? I thought I remembered seeing somewhere that ford made a 9 foot fleetside bed, but I could be mistaken.

the camper special I was talking about still had an 8 ft box I think, just that the rear wheel well was moved further back, and a contractor's side box was installed on the passenger side. I also mentioned earlier that my bronco was a ranger xlt...only to confirm that I don'ty think they ever came as explorers.

on the Super Camper Special, the wheelbase was extended, and that box in the side of the bed was for the spare tire

saw one in a junkyard a couple weeks ago

I said explorer but I meant lariat for the 1979 bronco. Still wondering about that sticker option. As I've rarely seen them. mostly on 77 and older.

gcfischer i do not think that they ever made a 9' box, i am almost certain of that.

havi i have yet to ever see a lariat bronco, tho it does'nt mean they did'nt make it. that would be one heck of a find!

mpcrewcab, Jefferson Wi?? you probably get to the biggest swap meet up there every year huh? man you can find some stuff there! i was there a few years back and a guy had an NOS cruise control steering wheel in MINT condition for 75 bucks and i turned it down!! man i wish i would of bought that thing!

I know many of you have seen these trucks with aluminum wheels, but not hardly any of them are factory. I can't remember the last time I saw any factory forged aluminum wheels and or a factory a roll bar.

The '79 Indy 500 model had the factory alloys and rollbar. I've seen a couple with the pushbar too, but mine doesn't have that. Mine also has a factory three spoke sport steering wheel like in the mustangs. Was this available in other f-series models? There's also reference in the owner's manual about a factory dual battery setup. Anybody seen that?
