I'd like to install a manual throttle cable on my truck, similiar to the choke but for the throttle. My FJ40 has one and I love it. Did ford install such a unit on these trucks?
a properly adjusted choke cable open the throttle to 2000 rpm or so before the engine begines to get choked down to the point you can notice or you can take a piece of small chain and attache it to a aftermarket choke cable and to the throttle linkage pivot point to open the throttle
not to my knowlege in the smaller trucks but they may have in the f650,s or f800 and as luck would have it the ***** and trim were identical so look for 1980 prior medium duty trucks in COE form and you just might find the factory parts

Ive seen some people use a bicycle shifter (with detent) attached to their gear shift rod. Mainly used for granny gear rock crawling, it seemed to work really good.
Thanks nick406. I want to pop the cigar lighter out and mount the throttle there. That way it would look pretty stock and the ford ***** are pretty distinctive. I'll check out the bigger trucks.
my my b600 bus with a 330xd motor has a holley 2300 two barrel with hand throttle and hand choke if you have a two barrel on your truck this helps .the carb number on the metal plate if its there says motorcraft d4te -aha-a -7e23 the holley # is list-5817-1
Years ago I had a '61 Fairlane 500 with a 390. It had a hand throttle factory installed under the dash with a chromed "T" shaped handle labled "Throttle". Why the factory had a hand throttle in an auto is anybody's guess. Early cruise control? Thats what I used it for.
My old Mack has a hand throttle. It is not too gawdy. It's a simple black **** with a twist lock. I'm sure if you have a big truck dealer somewhere local you can have someone there look it up.
actually the hand throttle was an option. I should know because my 1970 f100 4x4 has one, and i'm sure it is stock. It is a typically ford looking **** with detents in the shaft so it will stay in a selected position. You give it a half turn to release it and it springs back to off. Its great for warm-ups, jump starts and (probably not reccomended!) poor mans cruise control. Its mounted under-dash beneath the heater controls.
