I'm having a fuel delivery problem with my 88 F250 w/ EFI 460. I've disconnected the fuel line in between the hi pressure pump and the filter and attached some hose to the pump and ran the other end into a bucket. How do I get the pumps to turn on?? If I turn the key on I hear the pumps making noise for a second or two just like always. Nothing comes out of the hose though. I know the tank is over 1/2 full because I keep adding more gas to it just to make sure. Is this normal, or is this because I have a dead pump? If it is normal, how can I get the fuel pump to turn on so that I can see if it's working or not?

 

this is just a hunch. my brothers truck had 2 filters on it. one before the high pressure pump and one @ the engine.

you should also be sure that the pump in the tank is pumping fuel out!

 

If you hear the pump and are not getting fuel our presure out of the line, than your pump is bad
