Question Bore & stroke?

I would like to know the bore and stroke of the various new engines out there. I think the ford 5.4L has a bore of 3.5" and a stroke of 4.16", but what about the 4.6L? Also, I know nothing about the new Chevy 4.2L 6cyl, and the 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L V8's. I couldn't find it on the chevy site. My dad's Silverado (yeah I know...) with the 4.8L does seem to like to rev up, and I'm trying to find out why.

Mainly, I'm interested to see if they're all making the bore smaller than the stroke, and for what reason? Is it emissions, mileage, what? And, who does this give the advantage to?

good question, i think the longer stroke=less revving up. the 300 has a long stroke but then again so did the 428 but it could be wound up fairly high but not 6G +. in other words, it can be revved up higher but it wont like it as much as shorter stroke engine and places more stress on the rod and bearings, etc...

Ok, so I got extremely bored tonight and saw this thread and decided to look through all my old Car and Driver, Motor Trends and Truck Trends. Then I realized if you go to the Ford site and do a vehicle comparison, it will give you the bore and stroke of just about any engine you want to know. I'll save you the time, here's what I found.

Ford
5.4: 3.55 x 4.17____300@5000, 365@3750
4.6: 3.55 x 3.54____231@4750, 293@3500
4.2: 3.81 x 3.74____202@4800, 252@3400
4.0ohc: 3.95 x 3.32_207@5250, 238@3000
Chevy
8.1: 4.25 x 4.37____320@4200, 445@3200
6.0: gas 4.0 x 3.62__300@4400, 360@4000
5.7: 3.90 x 3.62
5.3: 3.78 x 3.62____295@5200, 330@4000
4.8: 3.78x 3.27 ____285@5600, 295@4000
4.3: 4.00 x 3.48____190@4400, 250@2800
4.2: 3.66 x 4.01____275@6000, 275@3600
Dodge
5.9(gas): 4.0 x 3.58
5.7: 3.92 x 3.58____345@5400, 375@4200
4.7: 3.7 x 3.4______240@4800, 300@3200
3.7: 3.66 x 3.57
Nissan
5.6: 3.86 x 3.62____305@4900, 379@3600
Toyota
4.7: 3.7 x 3.3______240@4800, 315@3400
Hope this answers some of your questions. I haven't really looked it over yet to compare but will as soon as I get this posted.
