If you don't want the Emissions controls, get rid of them all of them,(including the dash bulb, Haynes lists this as a component of the emmission controls) If their not connected to the system, the computer does not know that it had them originally. Of course, you have to reset the computer for the changes to take effect. ( just like you home PC needs when removing or installing new software).
I removed all of my emmisions ONLY stuff, (except the PCV, and the cats( waiting for dual exhaust), O2 sensor stays( a must have)) I have none of the electrical to the EVR, tad/tab, EVP, and also removed all of the piping on the passenger side wheel well and next to the engine. No vaccum lines to this stuff is left, tore it all out and plugged the port on the manifold. I also gutted the air pump.
Now as far as the rough runnin'------ I HAD rough running when I had all the stuff on. I also had a EVR valve that was stuck full open. (opens the EGR valve, dumps exhuast in the intake and messes up your idle big time). I have noticed better response, a little MPG inprovement (0.5 MPG), and a overall smoother running engine. I have no detrimental effects of removing all that stuff. I am planning to remove the cats soon, as not having the AIR injection to the cats will allow the cats to plug up faster.
Hope that answers your question,

now its an exhuast question, the 351 exhaust manifolds are much larger than the 302s i am going to have a dual exhaust put on the truck as soon as it is up and running, hopefully tomorow when you run dual exaust can you just put the o2 sensor in the passenger side pipe? or do you have to have a crossover to mount it in? thanks jesse
