Any Ford V8's with the distributor in the rear?

Ford V8 distributor in back
The 292 and the 312(T-Bird) engines we're in the back and at an angle. The 292's were very common in trucks. Not sure on the cars model an make but I do believe the "Y" block was the predessesor to the "FE".

Ford has had the dist in more places than any engine out there, Motel T, up front, A right on top of the cyl head, 32 V8 till 49 truck right in front, till 53, in front of the right head. Lincoln flat head 337, in the back, Y block in the back, FE's, small blocks, 351, 400, 429, 460 all in front.

Distributor front or rear.
[QUOTE=PhatCaprice;979373]Overheard a conversation that some dude knew some guy with a Ford V8 with the distributor in the back in the engine. One of the guys called bull on this and said that all the Ford V8's have them in the front. Then some moron said "unless he's got a chevy in that Ford truck.", blah blah blah. Got me to thinking though, Ford V8's aren't all about 302's, 351's and 460's which is what most people equate to when talking Fords right?. I know Ford made a load of different displacement V8's. So I ask the question of you all, were any Ford V8's designed with the distributor in the rear? I'm mostly a Chevy person myself and just recently started working on some Fords and am unfamilar with all the different Fords V8's out there, so bear with me. Thanks.[/QUOTEs

Those Y blocks were all there was for years and years before the Windsor
All those old Y blocks had forged internally balanced cranks IIRR
Guys like me with old boss motors used to run them in 302s (slight machining of the rear main surface is needed)
I have never used one
Internal balance prevents the crank from going "S" shaped at high RPM (wearing the #2 and #4 mains)
The Chevy boy should have mentioned that fact
There are ague points for them all

don't pack up and go home, just get better prepared
as to the y block they were first used in the usa in 1954 Canada still got the flathead for 54, USA production ran till 1964 for north America, 1980 for south America all had the dizzies in the rear
y block displacements were 239 for 54, 256 for the merc's, than 272,292,312

My mentor asked me almost daily to spell console for him
He taught me all kinds of stuff but could not spell console without help
Took me years to learn to spell carburetor myself
Thank God for spellcheck now
You are never going to retire charlie
I'd like to have a shot or 18 with you
