warped exhaust manifold

i have 2 leaking exhaust manifolds. i do not believe they were ever tighten up correctly by the po. i went to the exhaust shop and they were talking about the probability of the manifold being warped and having to be replaced. he claimed that was very common in the 460's case. he was talking around 900 to 1000 dollars. personally i think he is nuts but at any rate sounds like as much as i hate doing anything that has to do with the exhaust i going to have to do this myself. first question do manifolds frequently warp? 2nd question: if so can you stack the gaskets or is there a sealant that can bridge the gaps. any help would be appreciated.

warped exhaust manifold

i also heard that 460 motors frequently get exhaust leaks mine doesnt (factory, no gaskets) leak, but i did see some gaskets at kragen auto parts the other day that were extra thick and "guaranteed"not to leak...i would talk to a machine shop about resurfacing them alsojust my unprofessional opinion.

The manifold studs are known to break and open up the gasket. Ford even used different studs to replace them.
