Escape Transmission Fluid
OK, here's the problem!
My '02 Escape (V-6 Automatic 4X4) developed a shudder in the
transaxle at about 15K miles. I found out that there is a TSB
on the problem which calls for a transmission flush (with Mercon)
and a re-flash of the PCM. According to my service invoice, my
Ford Dealer did the TSB, but they used Mercon V (not Mercon as per the TSB). My owners manual says use MERCON only. The finger loop on the dipstick says use MERCON V. The
imprint on the body of the dipstick says use MERCON. Which is
right?
I've found some info on the internet that says the CD4E transaxle
uses only MERCON......Anybody know which is right?
