Alum. block?

A question for you mechanics. Does the 2003 MachI have an all alum. engine? Can it be equiped with an Eaton Supercharger? The reason I ask this is the Cobra has a cast block and Alum. heads and is a step up from the Mach. I read where the 2004 has an alum. block and was wondering about the 2003. Thanks for any info.

Alum. block?

I think that the Mach1 has an aluminum block like the older, non-supercharged Cobra's.

I guess the reason I'm asking, could the aluminum block handle the supercharger.......and is this the reason the Cobra has a cast block?

Heard they had/have reliability problems with the tin-foil block. 390 hp out of 281 cubes in a durable package is asking a lot. Time will tell if they hold up or grenade.

True, like I said, it is an aluminum block like the non- supercharged Cobra's. I believe that the Mark VIII's were aluminum blocks too.

Well from searching the web I understand (could be wrong) that there is no supercharger to fit the Mach one. But on one site it looks like vortec may be attempting to make one?

I think that the problem is if you *** the supercharger, you lose the shaker assembly. This is the main selling feature of the limited addition car.

Have you seen the new HotRod mag? It has a real good article on the new GT motor. 5.4L DOHC supercharged, drysump oiling and 500HP!! It does use an aluminum block but it is a new block that is reworked to be stronger.
