dana 50 & 44 question
i have a question about the spring mounts for the ttb dana 44 & dana 50. do they just bolt to the axle? and does that mean i can take a leaf sprung ttb dana 50 and bolt it in place of my ttb dana 44 on my 1984 f150 4X4 by unbolting the leaf spring pads on a dana 50 and bolting on the coil spring buckets from my dana 44. i don't want to do a solid axle swap on this truck because i won't be running over 35" tires and i don't do major offroading. i mainly just want to ge to the hunting spots alittle easier and some basic trail riding.
thanks for the info.

yeah the ttb dana 44 and the ford 8.8 rear will do fine for mild offroading but i want to do a gear change and instead of just changing the gears in my current axles i'll just get the axles out of a late '80's f250 4x4 and get the added strength, the gear change i want, and also possibly a locker or limited slip for the price of just the gear change on my current axles. or atleast that's the way it looks from the prices for axles that i've seen here recently.

The HD TTB axle housings are shorter (knuckle to pivot) than the LD (F150/Bronco) units. To swap them, you'd also need the HD axle pivot brackets, which are also different because they mount to a different location on the cross member.
The HD axle housings have no spring mounts. They are located by a hole in the top of the housing that captures the center leaf bolt.
Another difference is that the HD axle housings have no provision for attaching the radius arms.
