Stock Horsepower and Torque on 1987 460
Just built a new 460 and the dyno result was 336.4 HP at 4300RPM and 457 Ft/lbs of torque at at 3200RPM - does anyone know how this compares to a stock motor?
PS - pretty mild compression that allows me to use low grade octane since I track gallons per mile instead of miles per gallon....
Thanks

'87's were carbed. My Ford tech book says 220hp/360ft/lbs of torque. EFI in fact did have 230hp/390ft/lbs of torque, later ones with 245hp/405ft/lbs of torque.
Overfences: I'm assuming those are engine dyno numbers?
I always assumed 460's were capable of more than 300hp. I bet it will get better mileage than stock too.

Thanks for the responses. Yes - they are engine dyno numbers. Mileage isn't so great - it's about 6-7 average. If I keep it under 63 mph on the highway it gets about 11. When you surprise a Mustang GT the mileage is pretty bad....
I'm not sure what it's called but we put a transmission modification in from Ford - 1st and 2nd are really short and reverse is half speed - it's great for backing up horse trailers. (That's where the overfences name comes from)
Thanks again for the replies.
