1997 F250 hit or miss starting

I bought a 97 heavy duty with the 460 in it off of a buddy a couple months ago, he had thought the truck had a bad fuel pump but when i picked the truck up i was able to start it and drive it onto the trailer. The problem i've encountered is the truck will just crank and not fire most of the time, but occasionally the truck will start and run like nothings wrong. The truck is giving no trouble codes and when its running sometimes it'll run for hours with no problems and other times it will run for a bit and just die, like the ignition was turned off, I'm about at the end of my knowledge on what to do with the truck. I would like to keep my costs on this truck to a minimum because i am planning to sell it in the future, i have a list of parts that i have already replaced on the truck and any input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm fairly new to the whole forum thing, ive used them to make several repairs but i haven't been able to find a thread that matches my trucks exact problem, hopefully someone has had this problem before and been able to fix it because i am at a complete loss on this one.

: parts replaced are, ignition control modual, ECM( it is a numbers matching reman, the old one was corroded o the board), Ignition coil, I have a new distribuor and distributor cap and rotor that i have yet to install (planning to this weekend). i also found two wires making contact on the ECM harness, thats what led me to the corrosion on the board. I have cleaned every contact and fitting i can think of on the truck, and it dose have fuel at the rail.

Faulty fuel pump relay? fuel pump shut off switch? (Sometimes referred to as inertia switch)

would that cause the intermittent run/ no run? I guess it seems more ignition/electrical to me, it doesn't seem like it's starving for fuel. But then again this is a new one for me.

The next time it cranks and won't start, turn the key off for a few seconds then on for a few seconds, do this several times then attempt to start it again. If it starts right up then the problem is a leaking check valve in the fuel pump assembly and the assembly will have to be replaced.

Been away from the computer for a while, the problem was a bad distributor, been running the truck with no starting problems for a couple months now.
