Right now on the futures market, ULSD is trading at 8 cents per gallon less than regular unleaded gasoline.
In TX, state and federal taxes on ULSD are 6 cents a gallon more than on regular unleaded gasoline.
So ULSD should still be 2 cents a gallon less than regular unleaded gasoline, right?
So how come ULSD is 20 cents MORE than regular unleaded gasoline at all the station near me?
I know the futures market is not the same as the retail market, but the futures markets should be a reflection of the retail market.

because without diesel the world will stop spinning and the oil companies know it.
they also know people will pay whatever it costs to keep trucks running and product moving. so they can charge whatever they want, knowing people will just pay the price.
remember $5.50 a gallon for diesel? i sure do.
i also remember complaining when diesel went from 25 cents a gallon to 35 cents per gallon.

Me too!! Was the reason I had to get rid of my 7.3. I was commuting and paying $800 a month on fuel at that time. Fortunately my then fiancee now wife had a 150 that could haul 11k. Sold the 7.3 350 and bought a commuter car and a toy hauler I could tow with the 150. Once diesel came back down I got my 6.0

First there's supply and demand, then there's the fact that you get about 19 gallons of gas out of a barrel of crude oil but only 12 gallons of diesel.

In 2015, refineries in the United States produced an average of about 19 gallons of motor gasoline and 12 gallons of ultra-low sulfur distillate fuel oil (includes diesel fuel and heating oil) from one 42-gallon barrel of crude oil....
