Good Sam Club

Does anyone have any experience with Good Sam as far as finding campsites or planning a trip? Do you feel it's worth the membership? Thanks

We use the $9.99 version of ALLSTAYS from the play store, it has more stuff than you will ever need. We are also lifetime members of Passport America 50% off parks and use it a lot.

I will also add we haven't used GS for years because its not worth the cost.

Thanks, that Passport America looks interesting as I was mainly looking for directions.

All Stay app on your smart phone like Puller said. Good Sam is not worth the cost in my experience.

I use a lot of KOA's that works for us and usually have bigger sites.

I was a member of good sam as well, no real value.

I can't speak for the camper end of it, but the roadside assistance (towing) cost me $210 for 3-years and it covers all 4 drivers in my household. AAA wanted close to $200 a year for an equivalent deal.

I do use their roadside assistance, but discovered when I used it last year, when you call it, the tow is dispatched by the same service as everyone else (per the tow truck driver) so there is nothing special about Good Sam. Shop the price and get the same service.

Will AAA send out two tow trucks when you break-down with the RV in tow? Or tow just the RV and not the tow vehicle?
Edit: Just learned from another thread that AAA does offer a plan to handle the trailer. Good to know.

Know some folks with Class A MC's and they gladly pay for Sam's roadside assistance. Their approach is that there are two type of RV'ers: those who got roadside service (tow, tire change, etc) and those whom will need it. Seeing as they do not carry air-wrenches, the service is worth it to them.

One factor to consider when paying for a towing plan is that you make one call and work with one person whom in turn does all the work to find a tow company and repair shop wherever you are. Without the towing plan, you have do do *all* the work. So, it just a matter of what is worth to you when you *need* the help.

But all of this is outside of the original question about just finding campsites and trip planning

Passport America isn't all it seems to be here in the EAST !! Most all summer weekend dates are NOT accepted. Campground owners that are mostly full then don't want to give away that $. I used it to its full on my cross country trip tho. Paid for itself in 2 days! I prefer the GOOD SAM 10% off most everywhere I go.

I got a real deal on the Good Sam Roadside Assistance. Cheaper than I could find anywhere else and it covers more. Trailer and tow vehicle.

Everyone made good points about the roadside and towing which I had forgotten. Found out the hard way my trucks insurance with towing didn't cover towing the camper. I also had insurance with same company on everything including camper.

towing is always a rider on most insurance plans. So unless you specify they won't cover it. To include camper insurance. You have to ask for towing coverage as well.
