Help identify this broken front end part for me please.
Hello,
New to the forum, sorry if I put this in the wrong spot. But at least its not an 8 year old thread . Just bought a 2002 ex today. 160k 7.3 limited. Got it home and noticed this hanging down. Im new to lifts and trucks to be honest. Ive mostly owned cars.
It had no vibrations etc. This is drivers side. You can see the spot on the frame that it snapped from, a seperate mount off the frame. Almost hidden behind the black line. It has a 5 inch superlift? on it. Is that a part they cover or? Thank you for any help in advance.
Cheers

Well if your frame busted...I am pretty sure Superlift is not going to help you in any way. Holy rust buckets my man...that underside is pretty rough. I would have to get under mine to double check the mounting, but I am pretty sure it just goes thru frame.
In the tech folder post #7 should help you out... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post12677268

Welcome Bduals! You've come to the right forum for lotsa info on your Ex.
Sharing a couple of pics of how that front anti-sway bar attaches on my 2000 - your 2002 looks slightly different.
When off road in the desert twisties, I'll disconnect the front anti-sway bar get my Ex into deeper trouble.
Not a problem to leave it disconnected until you're able to figure out what parts to order. Your end-link might be OK, check the rubber. The part it attached to the frame might be broken; worth a look see.
Also check your bar bushings in case they're disintegrated.
Plenty of how to video's out there...

I would think the bracket on the frame is a Ford piece. Some lift kits use extended sway bar links is to try to keep the arms of the sway bar as parallel to the ground as possible. Depending on how that joint felt, I would consider replacing those links while you are there. They can make a heck of a noise when they get loose.......and since you are there already......(the motto of the at home Excursion mechanic) may as well replace. Is the other side intact to compare?
