Question 1977 ford f100 wiring problem

Hello all,

I just created this account because I had a question and believe I could get some help here. I have a '77 F-100 custom with a 302 v8 and when I bought it it had wires splices left and right. I went through the process of getting a replacement from the junkyard and putting it in but I ended up missing a few connectors. So after a few more trips I finally thought I got all the pieces I needed. However when trying to start the truck I couldn't get any fire from the coil. So after a little tinkering I ran a jumper wire from the positive terminal to the positive side of the coil. Fired right up without a second of hesitation. However after a few times firing it up it stopped and wouldn't start again. So I grabbed another harness and I am trying not to repeat the same thing over. Can anyone provide a pic of how the engine harness connects to the coil and dist please? I believe this is the only thing holding me up from getting this on the road.

below are some pics of the problem.

Here's a schematic - more of a roadmap, vs. satellite imagery...

This one is pretty good:

I think the white wire says "hot during starting/cranking," and the red wire is "hot during run," while the green wire goes to the negative post on the coil.

Does your wiring have the horseshoe-clip style connector for the coil?

First thank you for the reply. Yes, it does have the horseshoe clip. Following your bottom diagram I can trace all wires to the ignition module. However I am not sure where the coil wires go to feed into the harness. I follow the green all the way to the ignition module but it doesnt appear to have a spot for me to tap on. Am I missing a pig tail or should I just tap onto the wire?
