Truck Pull Rear End
#16
I wouldn't worry about a Chevy rear end. As I've said I use a Dana 60 rear in street mod which is way more HP and torque than you will have in stock class. As far as your truck. The 2wd class I believe has only 1 class and you will run with the big 2wd trucks (1,000+) HP. Not sure what state your in but n.y has hardly any 2wd class pulls I only know of 1 place that has a 2wd class. We go by weight. Under 5,500 is the same class weighed 4x4 or 2x4. I run in the 7,200lb class. Some places even allow crew cabs etc... In the same weight class as standard cabs. I would do more research with your local pulling league. Sounds like your going to spend a ton of money and time on a truck and not be able to pull it. It doesn't matter if the truck has a d60, 8.8, 9inch, 10.25, Chevy, ambulance, dump truck rear end. Truck pulls is totally different than street driving or off roading. Everybody breaks axles front and rear no matter what it is or how expensive the shafts and ring and pinion are. Stick with what you got.
Same goes for drive shafts, I sent a drive shaft strait up threw my box and landed on the sled. This was 2 feet off the line. Run what you got in street class. See if you like it. Find out the local rules. Once you start modifying your going to be in street mod(open mod) class. Your talking the difference of a 2,000$ truck in street class and a 50-100grand truck after motor, axles, frames, driveshafts etc...

you win more money if you pull in the league pulls. But after paying membership and stuff it's not that much more. It's honestly not worth it for money. People do it for fun and bragging rights.
