Grabbing rear brake shoe 98 conv van
When I haven't used my 1998 conversion van for a few days, my rear brake shoes are grabby and lock up the drums until they get cleaned off of rust after a short drive. Has anyone got a recommendation on replacement rear shoes that fixed that issue?

Well no help to offer, only condolences that you are not alone. My 88 does the same thing. My mothers 78 van does the same thing after sitting.
My guess is that whie sitting the drums oxidize just slightly. I don't know how much driving habit might have to do with it but, I very seldom make hard stops. I tend to coast to a light stop. I am not sure if that makes a difference on how much of the old oxidation is worn off inside the drum or not compared to someone who run right up behind others and then slams on the brakes.
Perhaps the actual brake pad material affects this to

Typical for drum brakes. You really can't avoid that when humidity is high or temps are freezing. Nearly every truck I drove and my current van have this issue, even after sitting just overnight. First time tapping on the brake and the rear tries to lock up. I always tap the brake slightly on the first 20yrds in the morning, helps most of the times.
