1990 f150 door lock issue

Hey guys, I don't know if I posting this right but could use some help or direction. Just bought a 1990 f150 and guy didn't have door lock keys so I replaced the door lock cylinders. Once the new cylinders are in the key turns the cylinder but does not lock the door. I believe it's a frozen door motor. I can not even push the lock down by the tab at the window. Am I correct on thinking this or is it something else?

I believe you are correct. Sounds like the door lock actuator may be froze. From what I've read, finding a new actuator may be an issue. Do a search on this site for replacing door latch cable and that will give you most of the info you need to get the door panel off and remove latch assembly. It appeared to me that you will need to remove the latch and actuator at the same time because of how the connecting rod was made. But mine is a 95 so don't know if yours is different. You will need to drill the rivet out that hold the lock actuator in. I used a bolt to put mine back in. You may also want to replace door latch cable if your door isn't easy to open. Also make sure your window motor is working ok and check your door speaker if that is important to you.

thanks for the reply. Do you know if I disconnect the actuator if I can just leave it disconnect and just lock it with the key?

I think you can but you may want to search to see if you can find if anyone tried and had issues. Or hopefully someone who had done it will reply soon.
