C O P spark modules

C O P spark modules
I have 2002 F150 5.4 4X2 with 190000 miles. Developed a small water leak a few weeks back that didn't show up till the truck sat overnight, then as we were leaving the house one evening the truck started missing terribly. I pulled off the road to check for loose plug wire, when I lifted the hood coolant was leaking at the seam between the crossover pipe and the intake manifold. As some of you might know, a brilliant engineer placed one bolt on the underside if the crossover that cannot be removed without pulling the intake manifold. To make a already too long story short, while I have this beast all apart I think I will replace the plugs and C O P's. Does anyone have any opinions on after market spark modules. As a rule I usually go all Motorcraft, but they run around forty dollars apiece where as the after market run between ten and sixteen on Ebay.

I would not replace the COP unless you know they are bad. I would do the spark plugs for sure, when the intake is off the plugs are super easy to get out.
My recomended non-Motorcraft COP are made by ARAParts (they sell on their website, but they have them for cheaper on e-bay and Amazon). They are all copper construction like OEM.
The other option is to buy 2 sets of the cheap $35 COP, and out of those 16, you should get a decent set of 8 with a few spares for when they go bad.

I bought my 2002 with 215,000 or so miles in it was throwing a codes for a couple of cylinder misfires I the plugs with the correct Motorcrafts, along with a boot and wire set. Ended up only needing 2 Coils I think I ended up used Standard products coils about $15 each on Amazon. I wouldn't just replace the coils unless I had a misfire. Make sure the triggering wires are plugged in and locked I had one that wouldn't lock on because the little gasket was twisted and it caused an intermittent misfire. I was able to verify the bad coils by moving them to a different cylinder and reading the codes.

C O P replacement
Thanks for the replies guys. I wouldn't normally be replacing the coil pack
unless I knew they were bad, but since I have this baby torn down, with nearly 200000 miles, I think I will do it while it is a little easier.
I have spent the last four hours researching ARAParts, and have not been able to find anything negative about them, so I think I will give them a shot. Thanks again for the input, have a great day and Merry Christmas.
