New PCM no help for High Rough Idle
#18
Just glad you found one of the main contributors to your problem. as for the vacuum line in the pic just take a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the end that broke off out and shove the hard line back in. Should be able to get by with that. my truck has a 302 so I can't help on the vacuum line origin until Monday when I go back to work. we got a 96 f150 with the straight 6 in it I can use to reference location on. does your truck still have the vacuum routing sticker?

WOW what a difference an extra cylinder makes. Injector reconnected and got the vac line installed and it is a TOTALLY different truck now. I can go into overdrive at 45MPH with no issues. Gear grinding is gone when shifting into 3rd. So much power I didn't have. Just unreal. I took it on a drive that usually uses 1/8-1/4 tank. Gage barely moved.
Now I am ready to start fixing instead of floundering. Going to replace the smog pump as it is grinding almost every start now. Get some new shocks. I swear the ones on now are original. Replace all bushings and get into the drum brakes and replace the rear wheel bearings and seals. Install the shift rail plugs on order and other stuff I want to do.
I honestly believe the shop working on this truck for the PO left the injector disconnected in order to get him back in to extract his hard earned money. I even found one of their sockets under the manifold. I posted in another thread that as a last ditch effort I took the truck to a dealer for diagnostic check. $140.00 later and they sent me on my way with possible causes for the high rough idle. You would think they would have seen the plug off the injector (as I should have). Lesson: The dealership is a waste of money when experts are on board here spending their valuable time to help us. So, thanks to all that helped or gave me advice. It is much appreciated. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR.
