Determining value.

What's the best resource for determining a fair market value for antique vehicles?

I'm in the process of valuing my assets so that they can be divided. I need to come up with a value for my truck. The best resource I've found so far appears to be Hagerty's valuation site. I was wondering if there was a better site/resource I haven't seen yet.

It is an inexact science, to be sure. These folks have a guide that may also be worth a look: Old Cars Price Guide - Old Cars Weekly

One other way, this will cost you, is to get the vehicle appraised. They compare your vehicle to "like" vehicles that have sold.

One foolproof way but involves some risk and auction fees is to sell it at auction . As my dad used to say someone can put any value they wish on something what it's really worth is what someone will pay for it . You of course would be the buyer and have to pay your auction fees , the risk being someone else thinks it's more valuable than you .

I had my truck by a professional appraiser in my area when I bought it as it was required by my insurance coverage for a "stated value" policy and to make sure I had it insured for an adequate amount. I am getting ready to have it re-appraised since I am about finished with updates, etc.....at least finished for now.

Value guides are only good for stock vehicles, modified who knows. I don't even think an appraisal may be accurate, but other than an auction that is probably the best way.
