How to protect MAR-K Cross Sills for 85 F150 Flareside

Hello Everyone,
I just purchased a load of parts from our friends at Mar-K. I don't want to have to go through this process again so I'm hoping to protect them so they out last me.

Can anyone give me any advice on how to seal or rust-protect them so they last forever (or a lot longer)?

My first thought is scotchbrite pad and primer.

What else can I do?

Thanks in advance...

JT

Use POR-15. They will outlast the earth. You can also paint over that if you like, but no need to.

You should topcoat POR15, it is very UV sensitive.

these are for the support bars that are under the bed of the truck...think it'll be fine without the topcoat down there?

I have heard that even the underside needs to be topcoated, sunlight bounces off the pavement and hits those spots. I just did the underside of my truck. I'd rather spend $10 for a quart of Rustolem, than have to redo it a few years later.
