I can decode the following:

VIN: F10D6N15985 / Color-R
F10 = F100.

D = 223 1V I-6.

6 = 1956.

N = Norfolk VA Assembly Plant.

15985 = 1956 Numerical Sequence of Assembly.

R = Torch Red.

Where are they located. Got a picture? I only know about 56 F100 numbers on the passenger frame rail (near the firewall) and on the data plate on the drivers door post

bj, I got my numbers from the data plate (or vin tag) on the drivers side door post

the other numbers I got from the firewall-they are on the top of the firewall on the passenger side. I still don't know what they mean -

I thought you had found a new place for a VIN Thought it strange that with all the rebuilds no one had found the VIN stamped on the cowl before. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Numbers are from the 'buck tag' used by assembly line workers to assure the correct parts installed on the truck match the build sheet.

In most cases, these numbers cannot be decoded.
