Does anyone know if the F250 dana 44's had a longer pass. side axle shaft in the late 70's. I've got a set of shafts that supposedly came out of a late 70's dana 44, but they won't fit in my axle by about 3/4 of an inch. Anyone have a clue?
I am having the opposite results. I am shortening 73 shafts to fit my rear Dana 60 with a posi / 30 spline set up. 61-66 axles were about 2" shorter than 73-79 axles. I can not remember which one the 67-72 axles meet with or if they are different than them. I would believe the front axles would have followed suit with longer size when the rear did.
bronco and pickup D44 are the same lenght. If ya loioking for a good set of axles for ya D44 go to warn and get the d44 replacement Axles if ya goit the LD F250 D44. They'll be listed for 73 to 79 F150 and 78/79 Bronco.
if I remembver right the chevy and dodge D44's Shafts are about that much longer then the Ford D44's. I know chevy and Dodge D44's shaft will interchange with each outher. I know for a fact Ford The LD F250 and F150 D44 shafts will interchange. Then the Outter Shafts from all 3 will interchange.
