Exclamation Fuel Problem

Hi, im new to this but have gotten a lot of help in the past from this website. I am having problems with fuel delivery on my 97 F250 7.3. I was driving it a week ago and it started to bog out and act like it was running out of fuel but i had just put 10 gallons in it. I pulled over and it died on me, I let it sit for 15-20 min and then it turned on. I drove it to my house and checked my bowl for my fuel filter and it was about empty. I let it sit for the rest of the night and came out the next morning and it started right up, went and drove it around with no problems and came home and parked it. Then the next morning i went and tried it and it would crank but wont start, I checked the bowl again and it was almost empty again. I did have a leaky fuel tank selector valve. I dont know what could be the problem and am asking for your help. Thank you!

Depends on how much your fuel selector is leaking. The lift pump might be getting bad.

get a 1-100 psi tire pressure gauge and test the pressure

get a new fuel pressure spring on ebay for 20 bucks if low, BB Mod bent my spring making things worse for me.

new fuel pump is under 100

blow out the lines to tank but it will take a bit to crank again if you do

can also rule out tank or tank valve issue using a fuel can with hoses to and from the pump to test

I had these exact same symptoms with my truck. I had not been using my rear tank because of a leak, fixed the leak and my selector valve never acted quite right. Had the symptoms you describe and finally on the way to work it died and had to get towed home.

Long story short i blew air back through the fuel lines and could not get anything. Put a new selector valve in and problem solved!
