looking for budget 460 torque recipes and builds.

Threw thousands at a 351M, torque output is not impressive. Don't suggest a diesel, Im not getting into that mess.

Im looking to put together a strong 429 or 460 in the 3000-4000 dollar range. Must make mountains of torque down low. I know the usual tricks: small valve heads, headers, cubes, dual plane etc but am looking at different options and proven builds. Im doing everything but the machine work myself.

78 4x4 with 3;50 (3:54?)gears, 4 speed and 33 tires. Truck sees extreme abuse, towing, hauling firewood in 4 low through deep mud, snow plowing and extremely overloaded (well over 1 ton) steep hills, bad weather, used almost daily.

Whats working for you? Gimme youre input, thanks.

PS looking for a solid rebuildable 429/460 core in the northeast PA area.
