Question for the guys that have done a fummins conversion

I have some questions for the guys that have done a Cummins conversion. i have researched the cost of doing the conversion. I'm tracking about how much it's going to probably cost me. I am looking at getting an 05-07 F-350 CC 4x4 and dropping a 5.9 Cummins. So my question for you guys is this...

1. Would I be better off finding a truck with a Gasser in it? Or...

2. Finding a truck with a bad 6.0 PS?

I'm trying to see which would be the easier and cheaper route for doing the conversion. I know if I got a gasser I would have to replace the front springs with the heavy duty diesel ones. And I plan on using a ford transmission and T-case.
