2006 F250 Trailer Running lights No Power to 7 Pin Trailer Connector
Ican tell you this was puzzling problem on my 2006 F250 SD. Trailer hada short in the running lights causing fuse 38 to blow. Changed fuse 38 still notrailer lights. I looked at schematics and found a trailer running lamp relay.Problem Owners manual does not identify this Relay. I looked on this forum and manyothers had this same problem as well. I found trailer running lamp RELAY is hard wired on the CJB 270. Where was this CJB? Under the dash behindthe radio. Dash facial panel had to be removed, radio removed among a few othercomponents. Then to remove the CJB two nuts had to removed to free the CJBwhich by the way is completely hard wired no quick disconnects. I looked atthe Ford Truck Enthusiast forums blogs for more ideas and found where a smart guy wireda after market relay downstream of the Ford Hard wired Trailer Running Lamp Relay. I put my new relay under the hooddirectly under the Power Distribution Junction Box I found the harness plug totrailer running light. My fix was to slave in a 40 amp 4 pole relay at this connector plug. First Source power always hot with 15 amp fuse(I usedthe positive side of the batter, Second next find the solid brown wire for your feedto activate the relay (sends power to trailer running lamp brown wire whitestripe). Third Find the Brown wire with a white stripe cut it and wire in your Feedpower pole which will power your trailer running lamps(I did not connect tapedthe upstream Brown Wire with white stripe from the original trailer runninglamp relay just taped the end, and Fourth wire your relay Ground wire. It works great thanks forum guys for yourblogs. Hopefully this will save some others time and aggravation. By the way ifyou chose to replace the CJB it is hardwired and thankfully it is wire colorcoded.
