Yeah those sundown subs really thump, but I am not sure that would fit. More sub than I'm looking for, anyway. I really thought about putting one in my console but I use most of that space and I'd miss it. Plus it would rattle my change around, lol .

I just miss hearing the bass. I don't need it to slam and be heard outside the truck. That jl would be perfect. I might take wife's car on a road trip.

Could do a nice trim ring to space it out. I have seen it done in acrylic and light it up and looks sick

I don't really want it spaced out though, I wanted it flushed and I was planning on putting a steel grille in the grille I make to go over it . Gonna try to get that jl or one similar. Will round out the all jl system.

I have slowly started to finish the system. I took the carpet off the third rows of a couple expeditions in the junkyard so it's an exact match. I picked up that jl sub for $20 and the guy gave me a jl audio stealth box and a kicker comp 8 with it.

I rounded the bottom of the boards to close smoothly against the door seal and look nice. I installed a grille I had laying around that is tough and protects the woofer while fitting flush in the door. I am cutting down the factory panels and will use them as grilles that will click in place with neodnium magnets. I need to find a way to make holes in the plastic without making holes in the carpet. Whatever. Anyway. Just sharing progress.

Next step is to get some door rubbers like the front doors use to route the wiring and hook it all up. The wiring is all run, just all back under the spare tire. The rcas are at the back of the center console from when I installed the head unit so I just need to fish them out and pull them under the carpet to the back where they can run under the side plastic.

Only thing is, the fiberglass ate up what's left of my mounting space. Less than a half inch short, but short is short.

If I hadn't recessed the woofer, it would be fine.

However, this woofer is huge and I knew it would be tough getting it to fit. The box is just shy of a half cube, so I can find another speaker that will work, and it would be nice to find one a little lighter anyway. The punch dvc is also a tough match for my 6 channel amp, presenting either 2 4 ohm or a single 2 ohm load. I'm either not getting full power bridged into 4 ohms, or I'm dropping the amp below its safe impedance.
So in search of a single 4 ohm of moderate mounting depth, preferably made in the US. . .

I am also trying to find some carpet that matches half decent. I'll probably cannibalize the factory trim pieces to go over the woofer and amp with snap on or magnetic grille attachments when all is said and done.
Might check out Parts Express and see if they have a sub that would work. I've used quite a few of their drivers on home audio projects (I'm a complete n00b on car audio) and have generally been pretty happy with the price/performance...
