Morning all.
I wound up taking the van to Wheatland last night - thermostat housing was leaking like a sieve and I didn't have the time to dig into it again last night. Since I have had nothing but trouble getting that housing to seal and it is pretty beat up, I think its time to pitch it and get a new housing - which is my task for this morning.
The monster truck show was pretty good last night, though the entertainment between rounds was a little lame. They did have one of the stunt trucks from the upcoming Monster Trucks film that would come out and make laps. It's a cool truck to begin with, but when you realized that the people riding in it were not in control of it it got even cooler. That's right - it was a full sized 4x4 controlled by remote. The ultimate big-boy toy.
Well, I've got work to do so I better walk the dog and get to it.

i may have to start working a little later today..
my back is killing me.. yesterday after we figured out we had to pull the fuel tank out of bullet we tried to get it out with the (one piece receiver-hitch-bumper) still on it.. but after much grunting and groaning we discovered that was not happening.. so i had to bend over with the torch and cut off the 8 very rusty bolts holding it all together.. i can work fairly hard standing up, but staying bent over is the one thing that really gets to me fast...
after much complaining on my part... the bumper and hitch did finally jump off the truck.... crashing down to the floor, then the fuel tank just fell out... ha ha ha ha

Out of gas, clogged pick up tube (on the end of the intake sending unit) filter sock. Clogged fuel lines (from tank to in side of mech pump, mechanical fuel pump bad. Clogged inline fuel filter, dry rotted rubber fuel lines sucking air. Carb accerlator pump diaphragm bad.
See about hooking up the mech pump inlet port direct to a small gas can and see if it will run that way.

I think I may have Frankentruck all buttoned up and ready to roll. Bleeding the air out of the cooling system has never been easy, but it seems to be done. I'm letting it cool down and will check it again and change the oil. It appears that I got the front seal between the oil pan and timing cover right - no oil leaks.

Afternoon Everyone!
Yesterday was the day from hell. I woke up late. Got fuel in Earthquake. I replaced both fuel filters because I didn't like the way they looked. Got it loaded on the trailer, then the hauler wouldn't start. Cranked the battery dead, realized I left the battery charger out next to the truck the night before and now it's gone. Jump started the hauler and made it to the parade start point. I got the truck tired up in record time and staged in line for the parade. When the time came to start off, the dang truck wouldn't start! After the entire parade went by me and was a block or so down the road, THEN the pain in the butt started! I just drove to the display at the car lot and walked around to cool off a little. We wide loaded it back to the shop, then got cleaned up and went down to Harrison, Ar. to see Jimmy Creten and the gang run. They put on a great show. I even got Tiff to say we need a stage 3 truck, so we can compete. We didn't get home until almost midnight, but the evening was a success, even if the day was a disaster.
