Starting to think about tires...
Hi guys, it is starting to crawl up my list of things I want to get for my truck, tires. I am currently running a set of lt265/75R16 Firestone Transforce AT's, and so far I am pleased with them, but I'd like something with a little more meat/presence but I don't want MT's and I am looking for them to be on the cheaper side. Right off the bat, I love the look of the BFG AT TA/Ko's, but not the price. Same with the Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. So right now my current list includes:
Another set of Transforce AT's
Toyo Open country AT II
I believe I found a kenda tire that is a possible, but I can't remember the name
Treadwright Warden
Maybe some others, but I can't think of them right now. I am particularly interested in the Treadwright's, as they look very similar to the BFG's but are like half the price, but I know very little about them. I need my new set of tires to handle well with heavy loads, last a decent amount of mileage, be good in mud, snow, and possibly ice, and also look really nice on the truck. If anyone has used any of these tires before or has a recommendation, let me know as I want to have these on my truck sometime shortly before or during winter. The front tires on my truck are getting kinda dry-rotted and cracked, as they are possibly 10+ years old. The rear ones were put on about a year ago.
Also, I'd like to go a tad bigger with my tire size, but I don't want to kill torque too bad. I don't tow often, but I have pulled some pretty friggin heavy stuff. My tires look puny and since it is my daily driver I think I could go bigger. I was thinking like an inch bigger, would that kill my torque for towing? I have a 99 F250 with the V10 and 3.73 axles.

Easy people! The important thing about reviews is that people will complain about anything. It would be a pattern to look for. Personally , as I explained before, the Hankook is a fine tire, just did not hold up as well as the Toyo. I got a lot of tread feathering on the rears probably from the torque of the diesel. The Toyo's are better wearing but the Hankook is definitely more quiet on the road, meaning a softer rubber compound. Funny thing is, Hankook got a slightly higher number of reviews than the Toyo on tire rack, but fared better on each companies respective Web sites. Bottom line, it's taste. I did not like the bfg's because the dry rotted long before they wore.out.

On my Jeep I have the BFG KM2 and absolutely love them. On my 4900 lb jeep I get awesome tread life. Of course on my truck I think they would wear super quick and I am not willing to chance $371 per tire to see if they last.
