Does anyone have any opinions on headers for a 2003 4.6 Expedition? Also, does anyone know why they would be different for a 2004 4.6? I have the motor out and thinking I should put some stainless headers on while it's out... I'm thinking shorties so I don't have to mod the catback at this time.

 

I installed shorty headers on a 97 expedition I used to own. There was a mild but noticeable improvement in acceleration and gas mileage. The passenger side was easy to change, but the driver's side was much tougher. Over there you have to deal with the EGR tube, the oil dipstick tube, and the steering shaft.

 

Yeah, I have the motor out (swapping in a different one) so now is the time if I'm going to do it. I found some JBA 1687S but searching online it says they fit 04-06, some say 04-08 F150 and some include Expeditions.

If I go to Summit or somewhere and search for headers for the 03 I find a different part number that states it's for 98-03 F150 & Expeditions... thing is I know the 03 motor in the Expy is the same as the 04 and different than the 02.... hmmm
