Hi guys, I am looking at 2 trucks .one is a 2007 with a 6.0 and a 2008 with a 6.4 they are both 350,s .I am going to be pulling my 12,500lb 5th wheel would like your comments both have about 114.000 miles they are both duel wheels ... Thanks
I would steer clear of the 6.4. The DPF emissions can be very complicated and extremely expensive. By 2007 pretty much all the issues with the 6.0 were straightened out. No emissions DPF on a 6.0. Any repairs on a 6.0 will cost double on a 6.4.
I'd agree with knightrider. From what I gather the 6.4L engines are a bit more reliable than the 6.0L engines, but they are substantially more expen$ive to fix. I'd sooner go with a 6.0 for that reason.
Worst case scenario, a running drop-in replacement for both engines is approximately a $13,500 part. The $13k Ford 6.0 reman and the $13.5k Ashville 6.4L reman come with 24 mo/unlimited mile warranties. I think the 6.0 is cheaper short of the full replacement point, and in a mildly upgraded stock form is more reliable than a stock deleted 6.4L. A long block 6.0 with those upgrades is $5,000, a 6.4 longblock is $9,500.
Both share the same transmission. I prefer the 2007 body style because I have one and think it looks great.
07 6.0all the way but it's a good idea to educate you self before you buy one plus they look way better than the 08-10's you may not trust my opinion on the 6.4 which is I don't want one if you gave it to me for free I'd take it but it would be sold the same day but this guy is a Ford senior master tech and this is what he has to say about the 6.4

I would drive neither anymore. If I had to drive a 2003-2010 powerstroke, it would be a 6.0. And to get the 2007 6.0, that would be the best scenario in a 6.0 truck. Check for bedplate for leaking, it's a common and expensive repair.
Looks like Mike189677 beat me to the punch!!! 3.73s were the most common for a SRW truck. But I believe most duallies came with 4.10s.
I was just repeating what you said in another thread I figure if your going to listen to anyone about finding a reliable truck your gonna get the best advice for the guys that work on them for a living.
