54 F100 on 1997 Merc Marquis frame? Possible?
Hello members. My name is Arni and I am new in here.
I need some info please regarding frame swap.
Just bougth a new project.54 F100....one of maybe 3 left here in Iceland.
Former owner tried to fit a 1994 Mustang front suspension under it. And had also 5.0 Mustang engine with gearbox. It is not a cool swap I know.
But I can get a running 1997 Mercury Marquis for small amount, and I would like to use as much as I can from that car. Am I able to do a full frame swap for my truck? Or do I have to splice them together? I see on the Crown vic frame swaps that you have to modify the bed over the high rise gas tank.
Hope you can help me out

Hi and a big welcome to you.
As for frame swap...is it possible I would have to say yes.....is it an easy bolt on swap definitely no..... can you do it...well I have no ideas of your skills.....but with enough time, money and fabrication skills any swap is possible.....practical whole other story.
I would guess you have to work with what you have available.........not like you live in the USA where they just find replacement frames and donors and such.
I, like you live a fair distance away from the available parts......... so all I can say is "necessity is the mother of invention"........ so get out your measuring tape and fabrication skills and have at her.

The Crown Vic/Grand marquis frame is very wide between the front and rear wheels. The frame rails would be outside the cab. To even mount the cab would require the fabrication of some kind of subframe to bridge the two frame rails.
The panther chassis's( CV/Grand Marquis/Town Car ) work on 57 and newer Ford trucks (still requires a lot of fabrication ) . But on the 53-56 trucks you would be looking at doing a front frame clip cut and weld onto the stock F100 frame. Or you would have to cut the center out of the Gr. Marquis chassis and fabricate some new frame rails under the cab.

Thanks Fordman75 I wasn't very clear ..... I should have been a little more specific with the get out the measuring tape.... measure wheelbase, track width, frame width etc etc....... and find a donor that will work still lots and lots of fabrication but when you have limited sources for parts....... you gotta make stuff work.
Using the Marquis you could probably do a front frame graft and I believe the rear end will fit, motor and transmission, radiator plus some other stuff can be adapted.
But it isn't a bolt on by any means :-)
