More issues with the '82!!! 😡😡😡

Okay Bronco folks - Now I need to pick your brains for a minute. Swapped my Edlebrock carb for a 4bbl Carter which was freshly rebuilt; bolted it on, hooked up the necessary vacuum lines and I still don't have any fire other than a fire coming out of the carb ha! Not worries about that as much as a few other questions.

FIRST - there's what appears to me as a secondary metal line coming from the gas tank down the passenger side of the frame into the engine bay which is not hooked up to anything. I bypassed the mechanical pump for a low PSI electric and it's pulling fuel no problem. My question; is this line important and if so - where does it hook in? This old girl has the 302 motor for reference.

SECOND - There's a vacuum line coming off the top of the transfer case which appears to also not be hooked into anything either. Not sure if it needs to be but my guess says it does. What does this line do for one, and if it needs to be hooked up, where is it supposed to go? Only free vacuum ports I can see are one on the back of the throttle plate which has 3 nipples coming off it and one just above the firewall by the heater with 3 nipples that doesn't appear to be tied into anything.

Really debating dropping this off at my mechanic and letting him have a go at it since it's starting to give me a severe headache!

TIA - Nate

Your "First" may be a vent line up to the carbon canister, stores gas fumes from the gas tank, then the canister is purged by a line to the carb/intake when the engine is running.

Your "Second" is a vent line. Leave it open. It is usually clipped up somewhere relatively high to keep water out of it. Look on the side of the hose, you may find a mark on it from a clip that held it up. Then look for a place that matches the length to the clip mark.

Did you have the distributor out. No fire except out the carb sounds like a slipped timing chain or the firing order is off somehow.
