I have no experience with Fastenal shipping but it would seem that if you enclose the pallet that they wouldn't care if it was sheet metal or whatever inside. Years ago I bought a set of 4 doors off a 50 Merc from a guy in the Chicago area and had them shipped to San Diego. The pallet was enclosed with 2x4s and wafer board so it looked like one big box. As I recall the shipping was upward of $600 via a name brand freight company. I think that I am going to have to visit my local Fastenal and see what they say about their shipping policy.
