Hey guys, I'm new to the sight but I have a 94 f150 with the i6 and a four on the floor. The head gasket is going out on it which is fair seeing as I just hit 300k but my question is what all would I need to do to swap a v8 in it?? I really want something with a little more ***** behind it even though I have no major complaints about the 6. What all would I have to do to swap it? Any advice is appreciated thanks for your time
It's a fairly involved project best done with a donor truck of the same vintage, you need the complete motor of course but also the engine harness and PCM, rad and hoses, exhaust Y pipe, and the engine mounts and frame towers.
The only major difference from a 5.0 to a 5.8 is the exhaust, since the engine is effectively a little taller and wider.
The best way to swap a 5.8 into a 5.0 truck is to carefully remove all your wires from the 5.0, and connect them up to the 5.8, and then put the 5.8 computer in.
