On my E250 the transmission kicks as I shift into reverse. Also it would kick as it went into higuer gears so I added an additive that the parts store suggested. Now it wont shift into the higuer gears. Is there an additive that is recommended for this. Thank you for reading this is my work van. This is a 1995 van thank you.

 

Unfortunately there's no additive that can repair a damaged transmission. How's the fluid level?

 

In my opinion there is no additive that will help a transmission. The best case in additives is that it doesn't do any damage. Many of them DO damage the transmission.

Does the OD OFF light work when you press the button on the end of the shift handle? Has the light been flashing?

 

This is a 1995 E250 van with a Windsor 5.8 liter engine. It had been neglected and I replaced pumps rotor distributor cables plugs etc. When I bought it the seller conceded that the stick shift had been replaced but the person who did that had some trouble and the car stays on overdrive always. That is what he said.

I dont think that works and I cant take it off OD. The prior owner had to replace the stickshift and since then it wont come off overdrive. Probably will need to see someone to correct that.
