Advice for a 1964 F600, 240 straight 6, CAMPER BUILD
Hi Everyone!
I am looking for a vehicle to put a flatbed and then truck camper on, to make a RV of sorts!
I came across this 1964 F600 for sale,
Apparently its got a 240 engine and is 5 speed manual
I'm thinking it would be cool to put a flat deck on the back and then build my truck camper to sit on the deck. The camper would be a cab over design and weigh a little over 1000lbs, something like this but custom made for the truck.
So i have a few questions and am also looking for whatever general advice you might have about these trucks.
1) What sort of gas mileage could I expect with the 240 engine and 5 speed manual transmission? With and without the truck camper? Will the engine be able to move the load well?
2) I live in Ontario, Canada. What's it like getting parts for these trucks? Where do people shop for parts?
3) What are some common problems with these trucks and what should I look for when purchasing?
4) General thoughts?
Thanks so much!!!

What kind of skills do you have for mechanics, sheet metal and welding? Check out some of the builds to see what kind of problems people are dealing with. I can do most things but the sheet metal rebuilding/welding on cab corners and mounts is way beyond my own experience and expertese.
Your own skill level and the amount of free time can be big factors. Finding this site was the best thing I ever found for my trucks.
My own '66 F100 with a 240, three on the tree and 3.50 rear end gets about 13.5 mpg right now. Less if it's constant stop and go traffic.
Welcome to the fun.
