Barn Find 57 F350

Hello all, Im a new member here and i wont lie im usually a mopar and chevy fan but i couldnt help but fall in love with this truck. I found it at my uncles ranch where its been sitting in a literal barn for the past 20 plus years since he's owned the property and probably more. the truck was put up on cinder blocks under the leaf springs so the wheels are not sitting on the ground as a result everything on the truck is in great shape! Zero rust almost no dents and 53,000 original miles. The vin indicates this is a 153hp 272 and the truck also has a 4 speed (yes not 3 speed) (did they make 4 speeds back then or was it swaped in?). as to why it was stored we are not sure, the clutch pedal is there but everything else clutch linkage wise is gone (maybe clutch went out) and thr glass was all taken out but then set into the passenger seat. As a result the cab and entire truck is extremely dirty but everything seems to be there, even the original key. engine appears to be the 272 but i believe it has a 4 barrel on it. other unique things is its a flat bed dually 2wd, power brakes, AC, 4 speed, and the highest output engine back in 57 the 272. thats the extent of what i know about this truck, ive been talking around and am considering getting it if i can find a place to store it, if i cant right now it isnt going anywhere lol. ill post a pick of the vin as i havent found a very reliable vin deocder and the engine is about all ive been able to really decode. Any input about it is aooreciated as i know almost nothing about ford f series and havent found much about this particular generation either. Thanks in advance!

Welcome, great looking 57, imho the best design of the era. Also, if I'm seeing correctly in your pictures, you are blessed to have the tubeless wheels that were optional. If I'm seeing right you will have 17.5" tires, either 7-17.5" or 8-17.5". And you will find stamped into the metal on the outer dual's concave side's drop center the Budd number 71320. These wheels will win you fans at the local tire shop. Tires will be a bit more expensive, but servicing them will be much simpler than for those with the two piece 16" wheels. Stu

Awesome, does that mean that these rims use beaded tires and not the old split rims?

Truck does not have AC (Air Conditioning) and there's no proof it ever had it.

Truck does have the optional "Magic Air" heater. The heater control is shown bolted to the bottom of the dash in pic above and to the left of the shift lever.

btw: Do not believe the miles shown on the odometer, as it reads to 99999.9 then returns to ZERO!

Yes, if I'm seeing it correctly. Please check your tire sizes, and make sure all are alike. They will either have the 17.5" size or a 16" size which would be a multi-part having the Firestone RHP design outer rim. Here is the RHP profile, but I don't think I see this in your picture. Stu

Ya I figured I decoded the vin wrong never done it on a ford before. Are the hydronic clutches interchangeable between a f100 and f350 and what years used this clutch, only 57-60 or other years as well?

anything else i need to look for in these trucks? like a common problem or anything? im aware that the 272s and some other y blocks of this era have a oiling problem in the rocker shafts (correct me if im wrong but i believe it was in the top heads area of the engine). We do actually believe this engine has 53000 miles as it has lived on this ranch its whole life (pretty much a ranch rig), it was put up decades ago and hasnt moved since, never since my uncle bought the place. I am looking to get it back on the road and im aware of how to start an engine thats been sitting for extended periods of time but is there anything special i need to look for in these? Also it has been sitting without an air filter on it, so ill do what i can to clean all dirt and rat turds out before any attempt is made to start it.

1961 and later F100/350's do not have a hydraulic clutch.
Parts catalog pic is for 1957/60:

7A508 clutch slave cylinder same: 1957/60 F100/950 & C550/950 (C Series Tilt Cab) / 1961/62 F700/850 / 1961/64 C550/850 / 1963/64 F800.

7A542 clutch master cylinder same: 1957/60 F100/1100.

Applications from the text sections of the 1957/63 & 1964/72 truck parts catalogs

Welcome! Neat truck with some nice options, especially for a 1 ton. MagicAire heater, radio, and electric wiper motor are a few I see. Pretty easy for you to see that power brake set up has been added. But it appears to have cleared the (missing) clutch M/C. You'll need that, a slave cylinder, and the hybrid hard/rubber line (7A512 I think in the diagram). I believe I saw where someone has recently started reproducing it. I had mine made up at a local auto parts house. As for the slave cylinder, don't give much thought to rebuilding one. Much better to just buy a new/rebuilt one. You're about to have some fun!

sweet i was worried a whole bunch of parts would be missing as far as the clutch goes and most of them hard to find, but it sounds relatively easy to find them as hopefully cheap. One more question I had is how hard is it to install glass? since all the glass was taken out and ive never installed it before im curious as to how difficult it is to install.

All the parts are obsolete, so hopefully cheap will be almost impossible, as you're at the mercy of whoever has the parts NOS

The B7TZ-7A512-A tube (1957/60 F100/950-shown as 7A512 in pic) that connects the master to the slave cylinder is impossible to find.

The last time I looked, no Ford dealer or obsolete parts vendor had any.

I found this website Ford HYDRAULIC CLUTCH - CLUTCH - 57-79 Truck, 61-67 Econoline list - CG Ford Parts
are these the correct parts? if so what else would i be in need of? there are a couple old school truck car junkyards and salvage yards in my area with this era of truck so hopefully ill be able to find the parts.

Check out Rockauto.com. They have both the M/C and slave cyl from different manufacturers. "Obsolete" with Bill (NumberDummy) means no longer available from Ford. Nothing wrong with C&G. There are some inexpensive foreign manufactured items on Rockauto, but they also carry quality brands like Wagner, EIS, etc. Bill is correct on the cylinder to cylinder line. That is why I had to have one made.

ok if i can find a used one that appears to be in good shape is it ok to use or should i have one made? and i know people get annoyed when they are asked to diagnose something from a picture but does that seem like all that is missing? im not near the truck to check on it and that is the only picture I have. just wanting to get an idea for what i need and start looking around. Thanks for all the help!
