Car rally, October 1st, Mtn. View
Hi, guys and gals
The Rallye Club of Silicon Valley is planning on presenting a car rally on the First of October. The event will start in Mountain View, but they haven't yet announced where it will end (my guess is that it will end somewhere with pizza and beer, probably in San Jose).
If you want to compete in this event, you'd be better off to use a car with a short turning radius and good gas economy -- which lets out my truck.
Note that this is not a "race". It's more like a logic puzzle that you play on the road. Fire suits and helmets are not required. Handy equipment includes clipboards, pencils, hi-liters, maps, map lights, a strong flashlight or hand-held spotlight, drinks and snacks.
Teams typically consist of a Driver and a Navigator (passengers are optional).
This is not a truck-specific event. The club's insurance does not allow motorcycles.
If you want to follow up on this, check the calendar at old.therallyeclub.org/calendar.html
Here's what I've been able to find out so far:
Where: The Registration/Start is at Larry's Autoworks 2526 Leghorn St, Mountain View, CA 94043-1614, United States
Typical:
Reg opens 3
Chalk talk at 4
Reg closes 5
Finish opens 7
Finish closes 8
Results at 9
...so it looks like it will take the afternoon and the better part of the evening.
If you've never competed in a car rally before, it would be good for your to show up at 3, when the Registration opens... and to attend the Chalk Talk.
