1991 F-250 Window Motor Removal
Help! I just got this 1991 F-250 and it has a couple of issues! The driver's door window motor does not want to go down. I took the interior panel off and tested the wires leading to and from the switch and all seems good there. So now it looks like I have to take the motor out of the door. My question is......HOW? Do the rivets need to be removed? Is there anything or any tricks to make sure the motor is not just jammed and can be freed up? Any help would be appreciated.
I will tackle the tranny shifting problems next!
Thanks,
Rod

I had to replace the motor on my '90 F150 and '95 F150. It should be the same. On your door panel where your rivets come thru, there should be three or four dimples around where the motor is. If you drill those dimples out big enough to get a 5/16 socket in there then you can remove the bolts holding the motor. Then just reach in the hole in the panel on the front side and pull out the motor. The only problem is if you have large forearms, its pretty tight.

drewcoolness99 is correct, I have done that also with good results. Sometimes I think that the linkage on that window jams just enough where that little motor just don't have enough freeplay to start running. That little motor don't have very much starting torque.

OK, here is the latest with the window motor. I had to drill two 1/2" holes thru the inner door panel, they were indictated by two dimples on the panel. Then I removed the three 5/16" screws, two thru the holes drilled and one thru an access hole with a wrench. I highly suggest either a magnetic socket or line the socket with a little paper towel or silicon to hold the screw in the socket. I had to enlist the help of a woman with slender arms to retrieve the screws I dropped to the bottom of the door. I also had to remove the speaker, one to get the screws and two to reach in and pull the motor out.
Once the motor was out I couldn't resist taking it apart. I took the plate off of the gear end and pulled out the gear. Under the gear there are three plastic pieces and one had started to come apart. I took these pieces out then tested the motor back on the truck. The motor worked fine. It was just jammed by the loose piece. I reassembled it leaving out the little broken piece. And I reinstalled the motor. Making sure to use a little piece of paper towel to hold the screw in the socket to keep from losing the screws again. Once the motor is in it would be hard to reach the bottom of the door!
Works fine so far.
Anyone know where to get those little plastic pieces? It is only a matter of time till they break some more.
Now on to the E4OD shifting problems! After looking through some threads looks like it could be the Manual Lever Position Sensor

I get them from www.windowmotorstexas.com, I have also used 3/8" round teflon rod and cut it about 3/8" ling and put three pieces of it between the gear and the hub and they worked fine. The cost for the kit from windowmotors of Texas costs around $12.00 plus s&h.
