6.7L Warranty Issue
Thoughts on warranty coverage, 2011 F-250 Powerstroke, 74,500 miles and 5 years ownership won't hit until 7/31/16. Started noticing small oil leak coming from front of motor. Local service department diagnosed as a failed gasket where the brake booster pump mounts to the engine. Definitely engine oil leaking and not brake fluid. According to service tech this does not fall under the engine warranty, are they correct? Engine warranty appears to read "seals and gaskets" fall under items covered.

Warranty coverage is determined by what Ford calls "base part number". The part number of that particular part, the vacuum pump that is, is 2A451. Any 2000 group part number parts (brake parts) would not be covered at that mileage and age. Engine parts are 6000 group parts (eg. 6006 is an engine long block assembly, 6049 is a cylinder head and 6020 is a front cover gasket and so on...). Even though the part on this particular vehicle is situated directly on the engine itself, it is still classified as a brake part.

Which dealer is your F-250 at? Send me a PM with your VIN, full name, and best contact info; I'll do some digging on my end.

They aren't hard to fix just takes some time. I just did one today on a 2011 with 207,000 miles on it. It had made a nasty mess of the front and underside of the engine. One or several of the bolts were loose on the pump, no wonder it was leaking. Ford should cover it as it is engine mounted and is gear driven but they probably won't.
