When these wheels and 15° tubeless tires were newly introduced in 1956 the new tire technology wasn't dependable. Somewhere I have an article describing how air would seep out. As a result they weren't as highly thought of as they are today. Owners' remedy was to run them with tubes. Stu
Edit - if you want to disguise the pitting on the one, JB Weld can be successfully powder coated. The real JB, not JB Quick. The guy that powdered my wheels told me they bake the paint at 400°s. JB withstands up to 600°, and holds the paint. I used it to fill surface scares and dings, but it should work on pitting just as well. Stu

Found 2 of these wheels today on an old haywagon.
If my back was 100% and if i had had more time i would have rescued them but it wasnt going to happen.
They are on an old junkyard farm. the guy is cleaning up. Eventually next spring sending whats left to the scrapper.
Pm me if anyone wants his number. Maybe he can pull them. Its about 2 hours away from home for me ( Corinne Utah) so not sure how much help id be but if i can i will.
Im sure there were more treasures and such but i ran out of time. And the place was a mess.
Also found 1 5 lug 22.5 and rescued it.

Thanks for the find jmadsen.
Well I just got back from my Colorado Hiking Trip! Which was awesome by the way! Another road trip??? Maybe if I combined it with a Trail riding (horse) trip with my wife! It is a nice Karma to have Stu, but a little overwhelmed with all the responses. Drums from the east! Wheels from the West! Ideally it would be nice to find a FTE member rescue them. I might give the guy a call and feel him out on what he is willing to do. You never know! The place sure sound interesting!

If on google earth and such. Just west of town from the bear river valley co op. North on hwy 13. About 1.8 miles. Then west on gravel rd approx 2 miles. Youll find the farm on the north side road.
Id say the haywagon in question is near the middle of image. And slightly towards the right.

I did for sure see one other loose 19.5 6 lug wheel but the lug holes were wollowed out pretty good. Maybe someone could fix it???

Got my wheels back from the paint shop Friday. Decided to go with a glossy black. I know some of you might think it's a little shinny, but this is as fancy as as it gets on this Truck. I'm pretty proud of my non-widow makers, so I want to show them off. One of the rims that I got from Doug (thanks again) was pretty rusty and when they sand blasted it, the factory seam was exposed. I went ahead and had it welded and painted anyway. Not sure if it will hold air so I may have to put a tube in it. Also, I am going to continue my search for one more wheel and will use the pitted one as a spare.

Gloss black! I can see now where it leads. Cruising the blue neon, bagged, loud tunes. It's a slippery slope, it is, to the dark side.
Okay, being serious, they look great. Honestly, I have a set that I had powder coated gloss black also. On mine the extreme gloss dulled a little over time just from being handled and cleaned. You'll be happy with them. Stu
