89 ranger ball joint PLZ HELP

Hello to all...
I am new to this forum so plz bear with me, I'm a little computer illiterate and have done well for myself to make it this far in this forum...

I have a 89 ranger, 2wd, 2.3l...I am trying to replace both ball joints in front, I have replaced ball joints on multiple vehicles and never ran into the issue I am having, as I know the basics, just not the specifics of this model.

I have taken off both bolts from ball joints and there is a unusual bolt, or something, coming DOWN from the upper ball joint. I have seen threads concerning 'castle nuts', but I'm not sure if this is one, as the pics of the castle nuts have all been on TOP of the upper joint, where mine is on the BOTTOM of the upper joint.

I have had it soaking in pb blast overnight, and I have pounded sms pounded with a fork seperator and also a lg hammer. I am to the point where I'm afraid I'm going to break something.

Can someone plz inform on how to remove said 'bolt', or if it stays there.

Welcome to the forum. That one's got me puzzled too. My '94 2wd with almost identical twin I-beam suspension did not have that larger 'inner' nut. That smaller nut on the end should be a 'castle' nut with cotter pin running through it but it's not. That tells me either a previous owner cobbled in that extra larger nut to keep things tight or possibly there was an aftermarket ball joint manufacturer making that setup. Hopefully somebody will respond who knows what it is. Otherwise, if you confirm the new part doesn't use or need it I might get the sawsaw out and cut it off. The way the outer surface is corrugated it almost seems like there was a tool to turn it out. Again, just guessing with you here...

After searching I finally found the part in question, at least I think so. I believe it is a camber nut, but I still haven't fOund a way to remove.
