Hi, new to the forum. I have a 1995 F350 7.3 that above 3,000 rpm and sometimes cruising at around 2800 rpm has a "hickup" where the engine cuts out for a split second. I have already replaced the cps sensor as well as the uvch on both sides... Not sure what else to check. Thanks for any help!
ICP is clean as is the fuel filter. I replaced the fuel filter about 1,000 miles ago... Would it show up on the filter by now if it was going to? Thanks for the response!
Maybe-maybe not. What did the old filter look like ?
It was clean too... It only had about 3500 miles on it but I had opened it up to fill the fuel bowl (because I ran the tank a little too empty) and the seal was elongated I suppose from the heat to where it wasn't sealing but when I went up to O'Reillys the filter with the seal was less than just the seal.
So far I have done the exhaust, cold air intake, and bb mod. In the next few weeks I am planning on: rebuilding the turbo with 360 degree copper thrust bearing, WW2, and 1.0 a/r exhaust housing, along with a reseal and ebpv delete; fuel bowl reseal; and t500.
Welcome.e to FTE.
As for your question do you have a performance chip installed? If so remove it from the PCM.
Thanks! I have not installed a chip yet. I'd eventually like to do a custom tuned chip along with injectors but right now I'm just working on getting everything working good.
Ok, new update. I thought that the issue may have gone away after doing all of the work that I did but yesterday when I was out picking some stuff up from the next town over I found out otherwise... It was doing it really bad, previously it was fairly sporadic but yesterday it was doing it quite a bit: I was able to watch the tailpipe in the mirror while it was doing it (which I hadn't done before). Every time that it "hiccuped" a puff of black smoke would come out the tailpipe. I don't know if this helps anything...
I would recommend stuffing an oem cps in the truck. Motorcraft or international. Also when the hick ups are occurring check for any sporadic gauge movements or a wait to start light flicker

Listen to that^^
Also if the inj orings are just starting to fail you may take longer that that mileage to show a black fuel filter. My b-I-l had a black filter that I changed and knew then we needed orings. 6k later I did orings. I checked the filter and it wasn't black at all yet.
Free rev w-o-t and see if it stumbles between 2k and 2500rpm.
I don't have any flickering lights. Need to watch the gauges closer when it is doing it (and I need to get some more gauges on there! all I have is the stock instrument cluster panel). Which would y'all recommend, Motorcraft or International?
