Any idea how to get a newer version of the iGo maps?
iGo said it has to come from Joying the OEM but their newest is 2014Q2.

A lot has changed since 2014 around here.

 

The IGOR is thought to be a hacked version. But I believe Joying will send the latest version.

 

I'd dump iGO altogether. Sygic is much better....

 

I had them remove it. They stole it from my youtube channel.

I'll do another review in the next few days with the Malaysk ROM.

Just bought this unit on Ebay from Joying. 212.16 after 20 dollar coupon. Can't wait to install it.

I am looking at their website now, they have 8" and 10" units. All I want is a touch screen and ability to use you tube and disks to calm the savage beasts we call children (when parked and observing all local laws and regulations of course!). Do these play CD or DVD? I know I can learn to load movies etc on a drive, but sometimes disks are easier for the navigator/boss. Does it have a rear output to run it to an aftermarket monitor as my next step?

Will the 10" unit fit my 01 dash and not look stupid, aka lots of fabrication work, and do I want the 4.4.4 version? I would like to run some OBD software eventually as well. Any other words of wisdom? Thanks!

 

Installed the Joying HU this afternoon. I have a hum in the audio and FM reception is weak. It is dark now so I will troubleshoot it another day. I am just happy to have it in. I am not happy with the fit of the Metra install kit.

Overall I am very happy. Now I am going to install the Malaska ROM. Then Torque Pro and asome other do dads. Picture to follow.

 

Not sure I am liking the Malaysk Rom. I think the launchers are not my taste. I have a speedometer in the truck, I do not need it on the radio screen. I would prefer a Launcher that has the time and radio on the home screen.

 

You just need to tweak it some. I disabled the MPH screen saver on mine. I have no hum, but as I've said, radio reception is terrible.

Subscribing... I am interested in one, but still on the fence with this unit or just a double din Kenwood, Pioneer, etc etc.....

I'm kinda weary of the audio quality. Can someone that has had another brand stereo give us a comparison between the two in regards to the audio quality playing off of a memory stick or bluetooth from a smart phone.???

I know the Fm reception is not the greatest on some lucky units, but that doesn't really worry me much because i listen to music mainly from my phone or memory card.

 

Don't go Pioneer if you ever play on needing tech support. They SUCK at it.
