2013 battery light on
I bought a 2013 f150 last Saturday. It had battery corrosion on the positive side of the battery and on the battery cable end. The dealer agreed to replace the battery and the cable end which they did. Every thing was fine until today when the battery light came on. It stayed on for a few min and then went off. I had the battery and alternator checked at the local parts store. They checked out good. WTF? Why a light if everything checks out good?

I would think if the battery light is coming on the vehicle is operating outside of its voltage parameters. This is usually an alternator issue. Was it a Ford dealer that replaced the battery and cable? I guess it could be tied to the battery management system. A new battery installation requires a reset. If you have an owner's manual, read up on it.

I found that same issue when I had a new battery installed. I put mine on a charger over night and in the last month, no more battery light. It seems the battery management system needs to see more voltage than a fresh battery off the shelf provides. I have seen one other local truck react the same.

Brother did the same when he got new battery. The system is little sensitive with lower power rating from new battery so charging will make it up.

When you charge the battery, connect the negative cable to a chassis ground rather than the battery post. Doing this keeps the bcm in the loop so that it knows the battery was charged. If connected to the post directly, the bcm wont see the current flow and will assume the battery is still in need of charging.
Alternatively, the bcm will reset after 8hrs of completely undisturbed sleep. Meaning, doors closed, key out and no activity whatsoever. Open a door 7hrs into it and the clock starts over.
Easier to just connect the negative to a chassis ground to assure the truck knows it has been charged.
