Can I diconnect the EVAP valve ????
So, a couple of weeks ago, I found I had a "sucking" noise from the engine.
It is a V10, 2 valve in a 1999 F53 chassis.
Thanks to you guys, it turns out it is the line that goes to the EVAP valve and onto the carbon canisters and the gas tank.
My "guess" is that there is a hole in the line, gas cap leaking or a crack in the one of the canisters.
Anyway ... while I try to figure out what is going on, is there any harm in disconnecting the valve and continuing to drive the vehicle? Will this hurt anything?
When I pull of the wires to the valve, the noise stops so I know the valve is working ..... the problem is after the valve.
I think I am getting other problems because of the "vacuum leak". The engine idles from 800 up to 1200 and then back at random. When I disconnected the line, I seem to get a steady 800 rpm's.
I need to keep driving the vehicle so I want to make sure I won't hurt anything by disconnecting the valve.
Thanks ... Mike
